Frequently asked questions
Answers to what people ask before booking singers, choirs, and musicians for a wedding, funeral, or corporate event.
These aren't specific to any one occasion. For specifics on yours, see weddings, funerals, corporate events, or Christmas carol services.
Do you travel outside London?
Yes. London is our base, but we perform across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, and several of our singers live outside the capital, which helps keep travel costs down further afield. Prices on this site cover venues within Greater London; anywhere beyond that, we quote the travel cost before you book. Our area pages list the cities where we perform most often.
Can we hear the choir before we book?
Yes. Our listen page has recordings of the hymns, songs, and instrumental pieces clients request most often, performed by the same musicians you would book. It's the easiest way to hear the sound of a soloist, a small choir, or a full ensemble before you commit.
Can you help us choose the right music?
Yes. Tell us about the occasion, the venue, and any music that matters to you or your family, and we'll recommend pieces to match, along with a written quote setting out the ensemble and repertoire. Our music guides cover the pieces most requested for weddings, funerals, and Christmas services, if you would like to browse first.
Can you provide an organist, pianist, or harpist as well as singers?
Yes. Alongside our singers, we provide organists, pianists, harpists, and string players, either accompanying a choir or performing on their own. An organist or pianist starts from £250 solo, or £225 added to a choir you've already booked; harpists and string players are quoted the same way, chosen to match your venue and repertoire. If a venue has no organ or piano, we bring a portable keyboard.
How does payment work, and do you need a deposit?
It depends on the occasion. For weddings, we ask for a 30 per cent deposit at booking, with the balance due 14 days before the day. For funerals, given the short notice most families are working with, we invoice after the service instead, on 14-day terms. Corporate and business bookings are usually invoiced against a purchase order on standard 30-day terms, though we can issue an advance deposit invoice if your budget needs it that way. Ask when you enquire and we will confirm exactly how it works for your booking.
How much space does the choir need?
Very little. Four to eight singers can perform from a corner of a room or the width of a small stage, with no risers or special staging required. If you would like instrumental accompaniment and the venue has no piano or organ, we bring a portable keyboard, which needs a standard socket within ten metres. Tell us about the room or venue when you enquire and we will confirm what fits.
Can you perform outdoors?
Yes, for weddings, memorials, corporate events, and carol bookings alike. Gardens, courtyards, marquees, and woodland venues are all places we perform regularly. A full choir carries well in the open air; a soloist or a smaller group can get lost in a large or windy space, so we talk through the venue with you beforehand and bring discreet amplification if it would help.
Can the choir sing in Latin or other languages?
Yes. Latin repertoire is a regular part of what we sing: pieces like Ave Maria, Ave Verum Corpus, Ubi Caritas, and Anima Christi come up often at both weddings and funerals. Our singers can also learn repertoire in other languages on request; let us know when you enquire and we will confirm what is possible for your programme.
What happens if one of your singers is ill on the day?
If a singer falls ill we cover the part from within the team, with someone who already knows the repertoire before the day. This applies whatever the occasion; your booking is not cancelled for reasons on our side.
